THE REGION
The beach of La Cote Sauvage runs for 70 kilometres, where fine sandy beaches alternate with rocky coastlines. Swimming is only permitted on the wilderness beaches in supervised areas. The sailing association of the Royan area has the answer to your needs: sand yachting, wind-surfing, beach catamarans, kayaking.

La Palmyre Zoo: in the heart of the Cote de Beauté and the beaches
of the Charente Maritime. Between Bordeaux and La Rochelle, a few dunes
away from Royan, there is an oasis where you can meet and discover animals
from the seven continents. The La Palmyre Zoo, with its 1600 animals is
now the largest zoological park in France, and one of the most exciting
in Europe.

In Royan:Etched out in the heart of the La Coubre forest, the 18-holes of this remarkable course are laid out among pine trees, hugging the natural dunes.
The uniformity which the forest might have imposed has been fully compensated by the undulating ground, which makes it possible suddenly to overhang the great pine trees, or to plunge into valleys of greenery, and to discover at the tee of the 14th hole, a unique view over the ocean and the Cordouan lighthouse.
